US Scott 37 franks patriotic cover to Kettering England, paying the standard rate. The Dec 1861 dates, seen on the town-mark, and the British receiving marks, suggests possible demonetized use, though some areas could use the Toppin and Carpenter stamps until Jan 1 1862.

The cover is slightly reduced, on more than one side, and has replacement back-flaps. The red 3 is a NY exchange office credit to Great Britain.

The lack of a NYC exchange office stamp makes it uncertain which sailing the cover traveled on, though, the Inman City of Baltimore is a possibility, guessing a travel time from Ill to NYC, using Hubbard and Winter, North Atlantic Mail Sailings.
