Description:

Scott's Bavaria #50 and #51 tied on cover with Munich cds from the banking company of Merck, Finck & Co. to a doctor in Brooklyn NY. Marked by originator with rubber stamped "Einschreiben" (register) as instruction to person responsible for mailing. Applied Munich registry label at bottom left. On reverse the envelope is sealed with red wax seal having company initials. Three separate US registry processing markings on the reverse - the first a black oval New York marking dated 2 December 1897 - the other two are round double border markings in violet applied by the main Brooklyn post office and the sub office for South Brooklyn - both dated 3 December 1897.
